Former MP Altino Bessa had a horrible shock as he drove to a council meeting in Braga on Monday morning. For reasons unknown, his Jaguar car suddenly burst into flames on the A11 motorway. Panic-stricken Bessa – currently in charge of Braga council’s environmental department – managed to escape unharmed, but lost “various documents” and “even his mobile phones”, said reports – adding that by the time firemen arrived, the car was destroyed.
The incident took place around 9.30am, with images of Bessa’s burning car being rapidly shared over social media.
