With only two points separating Olhanense from the relegation zone it is desperate times for the Algarve’s only top flight club. Manager Manuel Cajuda, yet to win a game since taking over at the helm in early January, recalled Jander for the game against Nacional in Madeira.
Mário Rondon gave the home side the lead after just ten minutes when he latched on to a perfect through ball from Candeias. Five minutes later it could have been 2-0 as Bracali made a wonder save from Bruno Moreira. Olhanense had their fair share of possession but had no penetration upfront, where Targino and Babanco were well below par.
In defence Nuno Reis and Mauricio were all-at-sea and it was only the brilliance of keeper Bracali that kept Olhanense in the game.
After the break the Algarveans were more positive and Mauricio, David Silva and Babanco had chances to level the score. Midway through the half André Micael did make it 1-1 but the lead was short lived when Moreno netted after good work by the impressive Diego Barcellos.
With six minutes remaining Nacional made the game safe when Bracali was harshly judged to have fouled Jota and Revson converted the resulting spot kick. Chris Wright
