Boxes full of smiles

A record number of shoe boxes, 1,361, have been donated this year for Operation Christmas Child, 12 more than 2010.

Organisers The Samaritan’s Purse send the boxes full of small gifts to children in Eastern Europe, Africa and central Asia, youngsters who would not normally receive a present at Christmas.

Local organisers have offered special thanks to DLS Couriers of Almancil, who once again offered to transport the boxes back to the UK free of charge.

Once there they will be sorted into age groups and genre, and they will then be packed into larger cartons before beginning their journey to the children.
