Bowls Winter League

Cats and Amigos are still setting the pace in the Winter League.

Amigos are enjoying their best ever start to the season having been strengthened by a couple of bowlers from another Club.

In Round 5 of the fixture list, Cats travelled to PDF and beat the Huntsmen 6-2 to maintain a 3 point lead at the top of the table on 29 points.

Harlequins had a rest day so Amigos regained second place by beating Rangers 8-0 and they now have 26 points 5 ahead of Tigers who also have been strengthened by new members but they lost 6-2 at home to Greens.

Harlequins are now 4th on 20 points, the same total as 5th

place Greens.

Foresters remain 6th on 19 points despite losing 6-2 to Gladiators who are now on 10 points which takes them off the bottom of the table. Eighth and 9th in the table are Huntsmen on 9 points and Rangers, who have yet to win a game, on 6.

One strange statistic. In Round 5 the teams scored 2,051 shots for and 2,051 against.

The Algarve Mid Week League should have started this week but the weather prevented any play. This League is intended to give bowlers not involved in the Winter League the chance to participate in another competition. The League should get under way on November 23 at Alvor.
