Bowls club helps new project

Tavira Bowls Club recently presented a top-of-the-range power drill and other accessories to Centre Algarve at Moncarapacho.

The Centre, the first of its kind in Europe, will be available solely for people with special needs.

The project is well on course to open later next year thanks to the many volunteers from all over the world who arrive to help create Andy Mahoney’s dream.

Myra and Dennis Humpleby (pictured left and right) from the Bowls Club said: “We are delighted to support such a worthwhile cause. There are many people less fortunate than ourselves and if we all pull together we can make a difference”.

Centre Manager Tom Willis (pictured centre) is keen to hear from local people who would be prepared to join a fundraising and events committee.

“We have some wonderful volunteers and great ideas but we need to co-ordinate our efforts to gain maximum support,” he said.

Please contact Tom on 962 812 230 or email [email protected].

The next Open Weekend at the Centre is on November 20 and 21. Everyone is welcome.

Centre Algarve is well signposted and can be found on the Olhão to Moncarapacho road about a kilometre out of Moncarapacho.
