How lucky are Algarve bowlers! Thursday, October 25 was the beginning of the Super 10’s Competition. It dawned and remained a beautiful day. Friday was a terrible day, raining constantly, and we were all worried as to what was going to happen on Saturday. As it happened, it started cloudy with a cold wind, but it cleared during the morning and a beautiful day ensued.
Due to computer problems, the results of the Super 10’s first game have not yet been collated and distributed, so more information next week.
The first Winter League game resulted in varying results for some teams. Floresta Foresters took the top slot with eight points in the table by beating Pedras Panthers. Eight points were also awarded to Valverde Vipers giving them second place in the League beating Albufeira Cats, only separated by shot difference. Valverde Vulcans took most of the points from Tavira Tigers, whilst Alvor Scorpions also shared the points with Floresta Rangers, in League A.
In League B, Floresta Huntsman have the eight points, giving them the top slot by beating Alvor Rooks, just squeezing past on shot difference as Valverde Vikings also have eight points. Valverde Vikings beating Alvor Greens. At Balaia, Pods took the points from the Whalers, whilst Alvor Amigos were resting this week.
A very early stage in the competition and plenty of time for things to change for all teams. We are looking forward to the next games in the Super 10’s and Winter League. Many players are also busy playing in the Inter-Club Competition, with players travelling to various clubs along the Algarve to complete their challenges.
