Bowls Algarve – Summer League, week two

This week the weather was sunny but still windy, moving the bowls around – challenging for everyone. No team scored the full 10 points this week, but already one team is pulling ahead.

Alvor Kestrels won nine points from team mates Alvor Egrets who won one; Tavira Tigers took eight points from Pedras Panthers who won two; Valverde Vulcans won eight points from Balaia Dolphins winning two; Valverde Vikings won eight points from Floresta Falcons who won two; whilst Albufeira Wildcats only managed two points from Floresta Squirrels who won eight.

The Table now has Alvor Kestrels at the top with 19 points, Tavira Tigers chasing closely behind on 18 points, and Valverde Vulcans in touch with 14 points. Two clubs are holding up the Table from the bottom: they are Balaia Dolphins and Floresta Falcons both with two points each. It’s early days and there is plenty of time for positions to change.

The green at Alvor was well prepared and bowled well, and an enjoyable day was had by all.

Maggie Dance was the Umpire for the day, and was called upon several times, as can be seen by the photograph.

Thanks should go to Zé Martins, the owner of Alvor Bowls Club, and to Ros and the kitchen and bar staff who kept everyone supplied with drinks and food to keep the teams going all day.
