Bowls Algarve Summer League

On Saturday, June 10 Tavira County Lawn Bowls Club hosted a social evening for their members with an excellent three-course meal cooked and presented by Ian West, member at Pedras Bowls Club in Cabanas.

Thursday, June 15 saw a return of the Summer League with matches played at Pedras Bowling Club in Cabanas.

Pedras Panthers won the day taking all 10 points from Floresta Falcons. Tavira Tigers took six points from Alvor Egrets, taking Tavira into the top slot in the league, with Floresta dropping one place to second and third-placed Pedras Panthers snapping at their heels.

Balaia Dolphins won six points against Valverde Vikings, moving Balaia up one place to seventh place – no longer supporting the entire league from the bottom, that place has now been taken by Valverde Vulcans who gained two points against Alvor Kestrels who won eight points. Still all to play for with only three matches left.

In keeping with their fundraising activities, Balaia Bowls Club are again having a big push to raise more funds for the Albufeira Voluntary Bombeiros. The next event is a sponsored 24-hour bowling marathon on September 16 and 17. Anyone wishing to make a donation or pledge should contact Richard King (Club Chairman) on (00351) 935 367 492 or email [email protected]

Balaia welcomes bowlers of all levels and has its roll up on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9.45am for 10am start.
