Algarve bowlers were treated to a beautiful hot day on Thursday, May 17 for their game hosted by Tavira Bowling Club. Again, like so many of the clubs, the surroundings and views were wonderful.
Teams assembled for 10.30am, to be ready for an 11am start. The games began with all teams concentrating hard to try to pull away from their opponents.
The results proved interesting, with all change in the League Table. Balaia Dolphins took all 10 points from Albufeira Wildcats, taking Balaia to the top of the table with 22 points, whilst Albufeira dropped to eighth place in the League.
Valverde Vulcans beat Alvor Kestrels by nine points to one, meaning Valverde Vulcans are in second place in the table with 19 points overall.
Floresta Falcons took nine points from Alvor Egrets who won one point, taking Floresta to third place in the League, and Alvor Egrets dropping to last place. Tavira Tigers held Valverde Vikings to a seven to three win.
Pedras Panthers were having their resting week this week, so slipped to fourth place, but there is still plenty of time for all clubs to shake things up and change the table.
There is one more week before Algarve bowlers take a well-earned week’s break in the League. Though some hardy bowlers are travelling to Alameda, in Malaga province (Spain), to bowl every day, on carpet, in searing heat. Why do we do these things to ourselves? Are we slightly crazy?
