Another gloriously sunny day dawned for last week’s match on Thursday, May 10 at Valverde Bowling Club in Almancil.
In the Algarve, we are extremely lucky to have such beautiful venues at which to bowl. We have clubs to visit deep in the countryside with wonderful views and clubs whose home greens are right on the beach overlooking the sea, and everything in between. No wonder the springtime visiting teams enjoy coming to the Algarve so much!
This week’s games were hard fought amongst the teams, but always played within the spirit of the game.
Pedras Panthers remain in the top slot with 14 points, and Alvor Kestrels and Balaia Dolphins in joint second place with 12 points each. Valverde Vulcans and Valverde Vikings in fourth place on 10 points each. Albufeira Wildcats are on nine points, Floresta Falcons on six points, Tavira Tigers have four points and Alvor Egrets, whose turn it was to rest this week, at the bottom with three points – all fighting hard with plenty of time to catch up.
The Summer League season is shorter than the Winter League due to there being less teams entered. We have four weeks before a week’s break, to be held at the end of May, then the final five weeks of the competition from the beginning of June until the beginning of July, when there is a celebration presentation lunch.
