The Eurocooling Thursday league fixtures took place at Tavira this week, where the home team had a good victory over the Alvor Aces by 36-31 and four points to two.
Aces were a man short and lost shots as a result. The Canela teams met each other and the Seagulls lifted themselves off the bottom of the table with an encouraging 44-26 victory and four points to two. The Alvor Diamonds had their first defeat, going down to the ABC Chieftains by 43-31 and by five points to one.
Finally, the ABC Braves and the PDF Panthers fought out a very close match which the Braves just won by 41-39 and by four points to two.
Chieftains take over at the top of the league table on 21 points, with a better shot difference than the Diamonds also on 21 points, now in second place. Tavira move up to third with 17 points, while the Panthers have 16, the Aces 14 and the Braves 12. Seagulls are now on four points and the Storks have three. Next week the fixtures are at Isla Canela.
Meanwhile, the One to One Car Hire Saturday league has really gathered momentum. This week’s big movers are the Tavira Titans who leap up the table after a 66-39 victory over the Alvor Gladiators and seven points to nil. PDF Crusaders had a 57-43 win over the Alvor Greens, sweeping all seven points.
The Harlequins saw off the luckless PDF Sinners by 53-37 and six points to one. Also at Alvor, the Wanderers were surprisingly defeated at home by the Tavira Tigers who won by 59-42 and six points to two.
The results of all this is that the Cats stay on top with 31 points, despite resting this week. The Wanderers move into second spot on 30 points, after convincingly beating the Greens 53-41 and seven – nil in midweek in a rearranged fixture. Gladiators have 26, while the Tigers claw their way up to fourth on 25. Titans and Crusaders each have 23 points, with Harlequins in close attendance on 22. Greens now have 20 points and the Sinners have seven.
