Bowls Algarve held their presentation dinner and dance on Sunday, March 19 at the Baía Grande Hotel in Albufeira. It was an evening filled with good food, good wine, many friends and much laughter, followed by dancing until the small hours.
Medals were presented by Bowls Algarve chairman George Humphreys and awarded to all runners-up in all the competitions, while the Cameron Cup was presented to Valverde Bowls Club, the trophy for the Super 10s was won by Albufeira Cats, and the Inter-Club trophies were awarded to their respective winners. The highlight of the evening was the awarding of the trophy for the overall winner of the Winter League, which was presented to Albufeira Cats.
Thanks go to Mark Jackson for preparing and sending out the league results on time every week, to all the clubs for presenting well manicured lawns (or in some cases well-vacuumed carpets) and for the great hospitality provided.
Another “thank you” must go to Francis and Alan Reynolds for organising, co-ordinating and hosting another fabulous night at the presentation dinner.
Wednesday, March 22, Balaia Bowls Club welcomed East Bergholt Bowling Club visiting team. The day was cloudy and threatening to rain, but it held off for the match allowing Balaia to win all four rinks. Post-match drinks were hosted on the clubhouse terrace.
Balaia welcomes bowlers of all levels, new or experienced, and has its roll up on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9.45am for a 10am start.
