First and foremost a very Happy New Year to all our readers as we welcome you to the second half of the present season.
Unfortunately the weather took a hand in proceedings this weekend and heavy rain washed out Valverde Vikings against league leaders
Bad weather and a slippery surface also postponed the match between the Alvor Greens and PDF Crusaders.
There was action elsewhere though and Alvor Harlequins took full advantage by beating Amendoeira Nuts by 67-13 and eight points to nil in a match shortened to twelve ends.
Alvor Amigos also had an excellent victory, again in a reduced – end match, defeating the Tavira Tigers by 48-18 and eight points to nil.
PDF Sinners had a good home win 70-40 over Valverde Vulcans, Sinners taking six points and Vulcans two.
Finally, Alvor Gladiators travelled to Pedras and Panthers emerged victorious by 58-40 and six points to two. Panthers had also beaten Valverde Vulcans in a match previously postponed from round nine by 60-37 and taking the full eight points.
Not much movement in the league table, due to several teams not playing, so Cats on 74, Greens with 65 and Vikings on 62 points remain out in front. Harlequins benefit the most from the inactivity of the top three and move into fourth with 58 points, just ahead of the inactive Crusaders on 54.
Gladiators stay sixth with 52 points and Pedras are seventh with 50. Amigos have 43, Tigers are on 32 and Sinners have 24 points. Vulcans collected two points and move to 20 points, just ahead of the Nuts with 18 points.
