Alvor was the host on Tuesday, February 21 for the start of the semi finals in the Inter-Club Competition.
The morning spectators were treated to games of a superb standard from the ladies pairs, two games of men’s singles, a men’s pairs and a mixed pairs. The afternoon was the mixed pairs, ladies pairs and a triples game.
Wednesday morning was a similarly sunny, warm day and bowling of a similar high standard took place, with two games of ladies singles, two lots of mixed fours and a men’s pairs game. The afternoon was two games of mixed fours and a triples game.
The green at Alvor was playing very well and thanks must go to them for the preparation and a well organised two days.
Alvor, Floresta, Pedras, Albufeira and Balaia all have teams through to the finals, who are looking forward to their games which will be held at Tavira on March 14 and 15.
On a cloudy, humid Saturday, February 25 Balaia Bowls Club played their Bowls Algarve League Week 22 matches. The PODS Team lost three rinks away to Tavira Titans, whilst the Whalers played at home to Alvor Amigos winning two rinks. This maintains the PODS in their foundation position in the league whilst the Whalers move up into sixth place.
Balaia welcomes bowlers of all levels, new or experienced, and has its roll up on Tuesdays and Fridays at 9.45am for a 10am start. All are welcome.
