Bowls Algarve – February 5

Round sixteen and a lovely day for bowling! Tavira Tigers were the home team against the Alvor Gladiators.

The Gladiators were unable to tame the Tigers, who roared to a 48-41 victory and swept up all eight points.

Over at Alvor, the Amigos welcomed the high-flying Valverde Vikings, who took no prisoners in winning 64-33 and taking the full eight points to maintain their challenge at the top end of the league.

Amendoeira Nuts took on the Alvor Greens, keen to close the small gap at the top of the table between themselves and the Cats. Greens managed another win by 57-43, taking six points to two, but losing ground slightly on the Cats.

The Cats themselves had a comfortable home win over the PDF Crusaders by 86-38 and yet another eight point haul.

PDF Sinners had their best result of the season by winning 65-35 against the Pedras Panthers, taking their first full house of eight points.

Finally, Alvor Harlequins have had a recent strong run of results and continued this with a 77-30 win over the Valverde Vulcans and another eight points.

No real change in the league positions, Cats remain in front with 105 points, just ahead of the Greens with 101 points.

Vikings remain third on 87 closely followed by Harlequins with 84. The Crusaders remain a distant fifth with 67 points, Gladiators have 62 and Amigos remain on 57 points.

Pedras also have 57 and Tigers move up to 50. Sinners improve slightly with 36 points, equal with Nuts, whilst Vulcans remain with 26 points.
