THE INTER club bowls competition finals were held at the Clube de Bowling at Parque da Floresta on March 24, which brought to a conclusion a well contested and friendly session of matches held over the last few months.

The final of the singles between Brian Gill and Max Hodges was hotly competed for in the early stages with Brian pulling clear to win in the latter stages of the game.

The pair’s final was contested between Ed Keighley and Jack Brammer against Ken Catherall and Ron Nutter. Ken and Ron proved to be too powerful opponents with the win going in their favour.

The triples final was played in an exciting atmosphere between Cath and George Wood and Max Hodges against John Woodworth, Ken Catherall and Ed Keighley. This game was hotly contested with Ed’s team gaining victory.

The two wood final was played out in good spirit between Bev Forshaw and George Wood with George winning on the day.

Now in its second year, the Ladies Championship singles was contested by Jan Collins and Josie Bell with Jan winning. Both parties played the game at an earlier venue due to other commitments.

Janice Clarke presented some very handsome club trophies to the victors, together with some fine engraved individual trophies for all finalists. Janice congratulated all the winners and commiserated with the losing finalists, praising all who participated for their sportsmanship and spirit in which the competition was held. All members agreed that this year was an exceptional year for all who participated at the bowling club.

Members look forward to renewing the competition for next season.
