Borough lockdowns back in place as country approaches end of 3rd State of Emergency

Borough lockdowns are being imposed for the long weekend that coincides with the end of Portugal’s 3rd State of Emergency.

Say reports, prime minister António Costa says citizens have to continue maintaining the highest possible level of containment and isolation to the bitter end. “Every time we win in containment, we are winning in the combat of Covid-19”, he said.

The decree outlawing travel outside of people’s boroughs of residence between Friday May 1 and Sunday May 3 will be made in line with the decree that kept people ‘at home’ during the Easter weekend.
