ALGARVE MP Mendes Bota has asked the government to answer questions about the inadequate maintenance and cleanliness of the border to Spain.
Bota said a lack of funds for national roads authority Estradas de Portugal has resulted in poorly maintained roads. He added that there is excessive rubbish on the road sides caused by people throwing refuse out of vehicle windows. He said the border is the first impression of Portugal for thousands of Spanish tourists and the poor maintenance and cleanliness of the road is a terrible representation of the region and the country as a whole.
