Boom Festival marked by unexplained deaths and drug trafficking

This year’s Boom Festival (Idanha-a-Nova, near Castelo Branco) was marked, as have been others, by drug-related disasters. Two people are reported to have died: a German and a Chinese citizen, although the Chinese embassy in Portugal has said they know nothing about any death of a countryman. In an unrelated incident, a young Portuguese became unwell after swallowing 45 hashish capsules. After expelling them in hospital, the 23-year-old was arrested.
