A fundraising concert in aid of the Aljezur firefighters featuring UK band The Shakespearos (pictured) is taking place on Wednesday, July 12 at Restaurant Vale da Telha in Aljezur from 7.30pm.
Organiser Brian Jutsum (aka DJ Rockindad) told us the reason behind the event: “On returning to Portugal after touring Europe last weekend, I passed very near to the fire that resulted in 64 deaths. So, in my local bar, after a discussion with my musician friend Richard Brogan, we decided to organise a concert to raise funds for our local Bombeiros.
“Luckily my old friends The Shakespearos, a UK band on tour in the Algarve playing music from the 70s and 80s, agreed to be our headlining band!”
Supporting artists will include local musicians Pearl C and Ricky Diamond, and Brian himself as DJ Rockindad will be the host for the night.
“You can’t buy the kind of bravery and skill these men and women show in a time of crisis, but we can help to provide them with some of the resources they need to do the amazing job they do in such times,” said Brian of the firefighters. All artists are performing for free, so all proceeds go to the Bombeiros.
Tickets cost €5. People are asked to book in advance as places are limited.
