Suspect packages discovered on 1st floor of Generali Seguros building
A bomb threat has forced authorities in Lisbon today to evacuate a block in central Avenida de Liberdade, described as having ‘around 15-storeys’.
The Generali Seguros (Italian insurance company) building received a telephone warning of a bomb at 12.35.
PSP police attended; initially opting to clear the ground and first floors – and then at 2.30pm making the decision to clear the whole building.
According to reports a bundle of packets “of unknown origin” were discovered on the first floor; a bomb disposal team being duly brought in to deal with them.
Still on site are Lisbon firefighters, INEM emergency medical staff and PSP police.
Online searches do not show the Generali Seguros building in Lisbon to have 15-storeys, therefore the details of this story are likely to change as confirmation comes through.
