Bom Samaritano children’s home receives €1,800 donation

€1,800 is the amount of money the Bom Samaritano children’s home in Alvor (Portimão) received on December 22 as part of the nationwide charity campaign entitled ‘Reciclar também é ajudar’ (Recycling also means helping).
Led by supermarket chain Pingo Doce, the initiative encouraged people to hand in old home appliances to any of the chain’s 300 participating supermarkets. The appliances were then exchanged for money – a total of €7,200 – which was divided among four selected charities – the Bom Samaritano (Alvor); Ajuda de Mãe (Lisbon); Centro Cultural e Social de Santo Adrião (Braga) and CADin (Cascais).
The campaign ran between November 15 and December 7 and was supported by ERP Portugal, the entity in charge of electrical waste management, and Portugal’s Environmental Agency (APA).
