Two smartphone apps have been launched in the Algarve – transportation service Bolt (formerly known as Taxify) and restaurant reservation service Zomato.
Both apps were only available in Lisbon and Porto before this week, arriving in Portugal’s southernmost region just in time for summer.
To celebrate, Bolt is offering discounts of up to 50% in the Algarve.
“Establishing our presence in the Algarve is an important milestone for Bolt,” said David Ferreira, the man in charge of Bolt in Portugal, in a communiqué sent out to the press.
“The southern region is one of the most important in the country after the big cities and it was always part of our expansion plans. It is an extremely touristic area, especially during the summer months,” he added.
Zomato is also delighted about its arrival in the Algarve. The app can be used to find and make reservations at restaurants and bars in “many towns” from Lagos, Portimão, Guia and Albufeira to Faro and Tavira.
