Body wrapped in blankets and bound by ropes discovered in Lisbon apartment

PSP police have discovered a body wrapped in blankets and bound by ropes in a Lisbon apartment.

The owner of the apartment sounded the alert this week, after not seeing his tenant since May and not having received any rent payments.

It’s not immediately clear if the body is that of the tenant, or someone else – so advanced apparently was the state of decomposition.

The case is now in the hands of PJ police who reports say are “working on the scenario that this is a case of possible murder”.

Says Correio da Manhã, the apartment in Campolide did show signs that suggest there had been some kind of disturbance.

UPDATE:

The body appears to be that of the 56-year-old tenant, named as Serge Albert Claude (a French/ Portuguese national), but forensic tests have not yet confirmed this.

Claude is described as having had a younger Brazilian friend (male), whose absence from the neighbourhood coincides with the time-frame in question.

For now, police have not released further details.
