PJ police promise further information shortly
The body of a businessman missing since August 9 was recovered today – leading to the arrest of “the presumed author of the homicide”, according to a brief statement released by PJ police.
The statement, consisting of just a few lines, promises further information during the course of the day.
The ‘strapline’ was “Violent Criminality”.
This investigation, led by the PJ in the central region,“points to the crime of qualified homicide, with the hiding of the body”, said the statement.
SIC Notícias reports that this is the body of 57-year-old father-of-one Mário Luiz Oliveira – a partner in the well-known Café Nicola, in Coimbra, who ‘disappeared’ without trace almost two months ago.
The day after Mr Oliveira was reported missing, his car was found abandoned in an ‘isolated spot’ in Miranda do Corvo – with the window on the driver’s side broken.
Since that time, news reports essentially ‘dried up’.
Updates to follow.
