After five intense days of searches, the body of missing woman Ana Raquel Martelo, 38, has been recovered from the Tâmego river, Penafiel.
A local woman, she ‘disappeared’ last Saturday afternoon while on a jet ski on the river.
At the time, “she was riding in the company of her partner and a family member”, say reports – suggesting she must have fallen off the jetski.
Ms Martelo’s disappearance came on a weekend when a runner disappeared during a cross country run (later to be discovered dead in a ravine) and at the same time that search teams in Madeira are still looking for a hiker who vanished without trace over two weeks ago (click here). Her body has been taken for autopsy.
