The body of a man was found this morning (April 6) by locals in a ditch near the Arraial Ferreira Neto complex in Tavira.
A GNR police source told the Resident that the man has not yet been identified. The body has been taken to Faro for autopsy, though it is believed the man died of natural causes.
The source added that the body is not believed to have been in the ditch for very long.
CDOS, the Algarve’s rescue operations command, said GNR, firemen and INEM emergency services were called to the scene at around 11.30am.
A photo posted online by a local resident this morning shows that the body was found near a bicycle, which may indicate that the man was cycling before he ended up in the ditch.
