Tânia was reported missing on September 24
Authorities have recovered a body from Tavira’s Gilão River today which they have said “could be that of the woman who was reported missing a week ago from Cabanas de Tavira (Faro)”.
According to messages being shared over social media this morning it undoubtedly is the body of missing Tânia Fernandes, whose husband Daniel put out an appeal on September 25, saying his wife was suffering a psychotic breakdown and needed help.
The case has since been widely publicised – and today came this tragic news.
GNR territorial commander António Ramos has told Lusa that official confirmation of identity can only follow an autopsy as there has been “some degradation of the body” due to the time that has passed.
Tânia’s Renault Clio was found shortly after she disappeared, with her mobile phone inside it, money and documents.
