Body showed no visible signs of violence
The body of a 62-year-old Mozambican man was found floating at Olhão’s fishing port on Sunday (February 26), according to the National Maritime Authority (AMN).
Authorities were alerted at around 9.30am and dispatched a team of maritime police agents and Olhão lifeboat station crew to the scene to remove the body from the water.
Speaking to Lusa news agency, Olhão port captain Alexandre Algarvio said the body was identified through the personal documents that the man, who lived in Olhão, had in his possession.
The port captain added that the body did not show any “visible signs of violence” and that the cause of death is unknown.
The body was taken to Faro’s Legal Medicine Institute.
