Bluetongue disease

AROUND 700 animals in the Algarve and the Alentejo have died so far from the bluetongue disease, an infection that affects cattle and sheep.

This data was released by the Ministry of Agriculture, which revealed that the following areas in the Algarve have been affected: Alcoutim, Almancil, Castro Marim and Faro. So far, 1,400 animals have been affected; however the disease is not transmittable to humans.
