Blues raises green

Jazz and blues fans ensured that the recent concert by the Quintessence band, staged in the Lagos Cultural Centre, was a sell-out. The event, which was organised to raise money for the Lagos Bombeiros, was a huge success. “We had a fantastic time, the audience were terrific and, together with the ticket money and a raffle, we raised a total of 1,830 euros, which was great! I was able to present a cheque for that amount to the president of the Bombeiros at the end of the show,” band member Graham Roberts told us.

“We would like to thank the Lagos Bombeiros, Lagos Câmara, all their staff, all the companies that donated prizes and our four guest musicians, Matt Lester, John Laveiri, Misha and Russell Anthony,” he added. Since the concert, Graham has been inundated with people asking if Quintessence will do another charity gig next year. “I am sure that with the same sort of support we will definitely consider it,” he revealed.
