The most spectacular sporting action around Portimão in March takes place high up in the skies.
The Portuguese Parachuting Cup featuring three different disciplines will be contested over three weekends above the city’s municipal aerodrome near Alvor.
The formation flight foursomes boasting one-minute free-fall displays from 15,000 feet reaching speeds of around 200km/h begin as soon as this Saturday (tomorrow) and Sunday from 10am.
On March 10 and 11, it will be the turn of the Skysurfers to demonstrate their daring manoeuvres at great altitude accompanied by ‘camerafliers’ while the country’s Freefly elite comes to town on the concluding March 17 and 18 weekend.
Admittance is free and spectators can follow the action on large screens while enjoying the usual sideshows and beauty pageants.
