Blue Moon party raises “over €2,000” for animals

Over €2,000 was raised for animal association APAR during the ‘Blue Moon Dinner & Party Night’ held on July 31 at the Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo do Algarve in Faro.

Organised by foreign residents association AFPOP, the event was attended by 146 people who together raised €2,044 for the Moncarapacho-Fuzeta association.

Richard Bassett and Colin Burgess provided musical entertainment, while the party was sponsored by Vila Monte Hotel, Lagar Mesquita restaurant, Monterosa olive oil, Gareth Bullock – The Bowen Technique and Fungilicious.

Organisers Linda and Graeme Cree thanked everyone who made a donation, the great musicians and those who helped out on the night.

Such was the success that AFPOP is said to be thinking of making the party an annual fixture. But as Blue Moons only take place once every two to three years – when there are two full moons in one month – the event may need to accommodate some poetic licence.
