An event to celebrate the Blue Moon is taking place on July 31 at the Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo do Algarve in Faro.
According to the organisers – afpop Eastern Algarve and Moncarapacho-Fuzeta animal association APAR – the “Blue Moon Dinner and Party Night” will be an opportunity to raise funds for the Algarve’s needy animals.
The modern-day definition of a Blue Moon is when there are two full moons in one month, which is the case in July. “A Blue Moon only happens every two to three years. The last one was 2012. The next one is not until 2018, so here’s a good reason to celebrate,” said afpop’s Linda Cree who invites all to wear blue for the evening.
There will be a welcome drink at 7.30pm followed by dinner “under the stars and the blue moon” at 8.15pm, and live music to dance the night away by local entertainers Richy Bassett and Colin Burgess.
Tickets costs €28, including the three-course meal (non-meat option available on request), wine and water, coffee and ticket draw.
