Bloomberg’s latest Covid Resilience ranking has seen Portugal drop two slots, down from an already fairly dismal 44th position in a universe of 53 countries. In Europe “only the Czech Republic has a worse classification”, explain reports. The Bloomberg ranking analyses various criteria (sanitary, social, economic and political). At the top of the list is New Zealand, with a resilience index of 77.2 points. Portugal scored 43.1 points for January, and “is between Colombia (on 43.6 points) and Iran (on 42.9). The February ranking, when it is compiled, is likely to be vastly improved on the basis that numbers in Portugal reached their worst in January and are now right down.
