Blood Mafia trial inches forwards

The Public Prosecutor has called today for the main defendants in the ‘Blood Mafia’ investigation to go to trial. These main defendants – former head of Octopharma Paulo Lalanda e Castro and former INEM ( National Institute of Medical Emergency) president Luis Cunha Ribeiro are charged with corruption and other charges, explains Lusa, adding that the public prosecutor would like to see other figures in the investigation face their alleged crimes in court. This is, nonetheless, an investigation that dates back decades  – one defendant has already avoided prosecution as prosecutors have agreed, any crimes she may have committed, will have lapsed.
