The Secretary of State for Health is calling for people with Type O blood to donate, particularly as the holiday season is fast approaching.
There is always a need for Type O donors because their blood can be transfused to a person of any blood type in an emergency.
Fernando Leal da Costa says that with the holiday season on the way, donations become scarce but demand is higher as the number of road accidents increases.
He also added that the “blood crisis” of recent months, when stock levels were significantly low, had been overcome.
