Blevins Franks paints the firm red for charity

International tax and wealth management advisers Blevins Franks hosted its ‘Painting the Firm Red’ event on Thursday, March 5 at their office in Almancil to raise awareness of the Blevins Franks Charitable Foundation which supports local worthy causes.

Around 55 guests, donned in all shades of red, were treated to a selection of wines and canapes, courtesy of Prime Wines and Algarve Fine Food, respectively.

The highlight for many was possibly the ‘Great Blevins Franks Bake Off’, featuring 14 mouth-watering cakes prepared by team members, their partners and other guests, which were submitted into a competition for the “Best Cake of the Day”. For a nominal donation, guests were invited to participate as ‘tasters’ and vote for their favourite.

The bake-off winners were Christine Wright, who won first prize for her Bakewell Tart (overall presentation and taste), and Nina Weissferdt and Sandra Smith for their Philadelphia Torte and Chocberry Gateau (tied for best presentation).

In addition to the bake off, four local charities attended the event and had the opportunity to tell guests a little bit about themselves and their organisations. These organisations included Algarve Families in Need, Special 21, Madrugada Portugal and Animal Rescue Algarve (with a few four-legged furry attendees present to show their support).

The ‘Paint the Firm Red’ event raised €268, which Blevins Franks pledged to match for a grand total of €536. The funds will go to the Blevins Franks Charitable Foundation, where they will be distributed to the charitable organisations in attendance as well as other nominated causes.

Dionne Curry, who handles Marketing and Communications for Blevins Franks, said the event was a great success for an equally great cause.

“We really enjoyed the day. We were particularly pleased to see how many clients and friends joined in with ‘Paint the Firm Red’. I’m also delighted to say that donations have continued to come in since the event,” she said.

Blevins Franks Financial Management is an international tax and wealth management advising firm for UK nationals living in Europe.

The Blevins Franks Charitable Foundation’s focus for 2020 is Disadvantaged Communities, and Blevins Franks welcomes organisations and individuals to share any nominations throughout the year.
