At a recent exhibition at Os Agostos, an 18th century Portuguese estate with a chapel near Bordeira, art collective Blank Canvas hung a series of paintings from artists, Chris Alford, Charlie Holt, John Lamonby and new member Robert Ford. This is Blank Canvas’ 10th show since the original group started up in 2002 – Robert Ford recently joined as another experienced artist to add variance to the group.
Speaking to The Resident, Charlie Holt said: “This most recent exhibition has gone swimmingly. We have sold quite a lot of our pieces and the viewers’ response has been fantastic.” Part of Blank Canvas’ philosophy is to always exhibit at a diverse selection of venues. “We do not stick rigorously to only exhibiting in galleries. We also like to exhibit in non-gallery spaces,” he explained.
Visitors to the latest show were knocked out by the magnificence of the venue. To thank Maria Rosario – whose family the house has been in for many years, the Blank Canvas team presented her with one of their celebrated pieces.
Blank Canvas are currently sourcing venues for their next show and welcome any original ideas of new places to hold their next exhibition. If you know of anywhere, please email [email protected].
