After the huge success of its first edition, Carvoeiro’s Black & White Night will be returning to the small village on Saturday (June 20) with even more to see and do.
“Burlesque and vintage” have been chosen as the themes of the event, which aims to take people back to the 1920s and 30s before bringing them back to the 21st century with “the dance hits that have marked its first fifteen years”.
Once again, the town’s main streets and squares will be draped in black and white between 8.30pm and 3am.
A number of stages will be set up throughout the town centre. Street entertainment will be in charge of The Messy Band, which will get visitors pumped up for the first show of the night – a performance by Argentine singer Mariel Martinez.
Later at 9.50pm, it will be time for the Algarve’s Jazz Orchestra to take to the stage.
At the same time, popular Spanish DJ Charlie Mysterio will be playing the best “retro dance music” all the way from the 1920s to the 1950s.
Organisers say one of the highlights of the night will be the performance by Jasmina Jolie & Cosmopolitan Cabaret, featuring cabaret music from all over Europe and America, recalling well-known icons like Marlene Dietrich and Celia Gámez.
Last year, the Black & White Night attracted more than 10,000 visitors.
