THE INTERNATIONAL Christian Fellowship (ICF) in the Algarve is celebrating its 15th birthday.
It was started by Pastor Norman Harrell in November 1991, who stayed until 2002 when he returned to the US.
After being without a pastor for two years, the ICF welcomed Pastor David Borgan from Texas in 2004, who now lives in Ferragudo with his wife and family.
The church supports several national and international charities: the Tear Fund, the Leprosy Mission, o Lar de Bom Samaritano and Castelo de Sonhos, as well as the Samaritan’s Purse and Operation Christmas Child.
To mark its special landmark, the ICF held a dinner at Mariner’s Restaurant in Portimão and, on October 29, the church celebrated Harvest Festival.
At the service, the shoe boxes packed with gifts for children in Third World countries, as part of Operation Christmas Child, were blessed before being sent on their way.
A new Sunday School started on November 5 at 10.30am in the church room know as “The Bridge”, close to the church. Lessons will be based on Scripture Union Literature, with two age groups: “Splash” for five to eight-year-olds and “Xstream” for eight to 11-year-olds.
