Bird flu: second outbreak flagged in Torres Vedras

A new outbreak of bird flu has been detected in Torres Vedras (Lisbon district), this time at a chicken breeding facility in A-dos-Cunhados e Macieira. Measures of control are “already being implemented”, according to veterinarain authority DGAV. These include destroying all infected birds, inspecting the premises and notifying other chicken breeders and producers within a three km radius. This is the second outbreak of bird flu in the parish this month.
