Binge perils

Weekend binge-drinking by young people can lead to alcohol addiction, the director-general of Portugal’s intervention service on addictive behaviour and dependency has declared. João Goulão was speaking at a European meeting on alcohol consumption. He said that while there was no significant increase in the number of young drinkers, there was a clear sign of “alteration in consumption behaviour”.
