Larga Vista Residents Association held their annual carol singing concert just before Christmas at the Restaurante O Foral.
Around 80 people of all ages and nationalities thoroughly enjoyed exercising their vocal chords on a wide range of popular seasonal songs.
Duncan Kinnell on the keyboard, a small team from Paderne Choir and Teresa Santos with a group of nurses from Portimão Hospital led the choral festivities with some tuneful renditions of traditional Portuguese and English Carols.
At the end of the evening, the bells sounded and a splendid team of Santas from the Junta de Freguesia do Algoz arrived at the restaurant, much to the delight of the children.
Some €220 was taken in a collection to purchase food items for the most needy within the local area. This was boosted further by a donation of €100 from the Larga Vista Petanque Association.
The food was purchased and donated to the Freguesia in Algoz for immediate distribution.
The Petanque association also support the Casa da Paz home in Paderne, which provided some seasonal cheer for the patients by supplying chocolates, some tasty pastéis de nata and a huge Christmas cake.
