The 30th Faro Bikers Meeting was due to kick off last night (Thursday) with a concert by British heavy metal band Iron Maiden.
The event runs until Sunday with more music, bike shows and food and drink at Vale das Almas, near Faro International airport.
Today (Friday) bands Mago de Oz, Iris and British AC/DC tribute band Hells Bells will take to the stage from 9.30pm.
Tomorrow (Saturday) from 2pm, there will be an exhibition of motorcycles and a tattoos competition and from 6pm there will be a Miss Faro 2011 competition.
At 10pm, it will be time for more music on the main stage of the event, with performances by the Algarve Orchestra, the Spanish band Los Inhumanos and Portuguese rock band Xutos & Pontapés.
On Sunday, the last day of the event, bikers participate in a farewell parade from 10am through the streets of Faro.
A three-day ticket costs €45. The entrance fee includes an official bag which contains a t-shirt, rally badge, sticker, a surprise gift, coupons for free meals, coupons to enter a draw for a brand new motorcycle and a free week in Daytona, US.
The ticket also gives visitors use of the camping facilities near the event, free trips on a special bus, which will run during the days of the festival from 11am to 8am to take guests into Faro and back.
