MONTE SEQUEIRA, in the Serra do Cachopo in Tavira, suffered the greatest fire so far this season in the Algarve region on Sunday, June 3.
The fire started at around 3pm in a forested area and was fought by almost all the fire brigades in the eastern Algarve as well as a helicopter from Loulé. The fire was put out by the firefighters at around 6.40pm. Around 60 firefighters and 17 vehicles remained in the area, in case of re-ignition, until later that day.
