Bad boy rapper Eminem was officially bigger than the Beatles during the last decade according to US album sales.
The Beatles sold the most copies of a single album with their Best-of album 1 selling over 11 million copies. Eminem, however, had two of the largest albums of the noughties with the Marshall Mathers LP selling more than 10 million units and The Eminem Show selling over nine million copies, putting the rap star at number one.
Britney Spears came in at number five in the chart compiled by Nielsen SoundScan with US rockers Linkin Park taking number seven spot and the Beatles being runners up at number two.
Despite coming in after Eminem, it is a testament to the ongoing popularity of the Beatles that they are still selling so many albums, especially since it has been 40 years since the band broke up.
