Reigning Portuguese water polo champions Portinado successfully defended their title in Porto last weekend.
Having taken a 2-0 lead over Salgueiros during the home legs played outside the Algarve due to the lack of suitable pools in the region, player-manager Evghenii Trubetcoi led his men to a 3-1 success in the best-of-five play-off.
“Passion for the sport, team play and the will to win” were given as the main reasons for Portimão’s victory by their coach after the final match which saw the outstanding national keeper Mykola Yanochko receive the MVP award.
