Today ranks as the ‘best Thursday of the summer’ in terms of the number of new cases of SARS-CoV-2, and the numbers of people being treated in hospital. There have been ‘only’ 1,406 new cases registered in the last 24-hours, while 24 people have left hospital – bringing numbers being treated down to below 600 (currently 597). As Público has quizzed “when will we arrive at an acceptable number of Covid deaths?”. The tally of 10 in Wednesday’s bulletin, for example, came on a day when 241 people died of ‘other causes’.
