Best salt in Tavira

Algarve-based salt producers Rui Simeão Tavira Sal have been awarded a gold medal for being the best ‘Traditional European Artisan Producer 2012’.

At the 10th European Congress of Enogastronomic Brotherhood and Associations (CEUCO) held in Tartu, Estonia, this July, the Tavira company impressed judges with their ‘fleur de sal’ product, and came first place when up against other companies from Spain, Italy, France, Greece and others.

The jury consisted of members from the Cooking Academy of Master Chefs of France, Master Chefs of Belgium, Federation of Italian Chefs, the Spanish Academy of Gastronomy, German Chefs Association, Young Restaurateurs Europe (JRE) and the International Association of Sommellerie (ASI).
